It is essential to periodically evaluate treatment plants to optimize their performance and guarantee a supply of quality water for the population. The objective of this study was to evaluate the hydraulic characteristics of the coagulation and flocculation processes of PTAPT. For which, the instantaneous injection method was applied using NaCl as a tracer. Using the Wolf-Resnick method, Trend Curve and Morrill Index, the hydrodynamic behavior of the flow was evaluated. The flow rates in the mixers and flocculators are very close to those recorded by the flowmeter. The THR in the module I mixer is between 6.88-11.17s with velocity gradients of 547.89-734.26s1, while in the module II mixer it varies between 1286.62-1330.25s-1 and the THR ranges between 8.19-10.37s. Module I hydraulic flocculators the THR varies between 21.51-35.45s. But, the velocity gradient is very close to the minimum limit of 10s-1. The THR of the mechanical flocculators varied between 41.07-61.83min, with speed gradients of 53.71-63.97s-1. Instead, in module II the THR was 35.09-48.92min and the velocity gradient is in a range of 20.87-31.38s-1. Regarding hydraulic behavior, it was found that in hydraulic flocculators there is a predominance of plug flow of 86-94%. And in mechanical flocculators, the mixed flow >80% prevails, but they have dead zones that vary between 1-21%. This study reflects the importance of operating within established design ranges to ensure optimal performance of mixers and flocculators.
