    El protocolo IEC 61850 en la automatización de subestaciones

    In the first part, the thesis summarizes the standard IEC 61850, second edition,in order to find out in more detail its aspects. Its importance resides thattoday this standard has become the pillar of automation of substations. It hasestablished a model that is used by both manufactures and electrical companiesin their processes of modernization and automation of substations. In continuation, the thesis describes the evolution of automation in substationsof the EmpresaEléctrica Regional Centro Sur C.A., detailing the implementationof SAS based on IEC 61850. In addition, it presents the distribution managementsystem that is being implemented in the country with a view to a smart gridbased on the substation and distribution automation. Finally it details the stepsand criteria involved in the implementation of the standard in 4 bays of thesubstation 04 (Parque Industrial) as part of corrective maintenance performedon this substation.
