Item Prevalencia del consumo de alcohol y su relación con disfunción familiar, ansiedad, depresión y estrés en estudiantes de medicina de la Universidad de Cuenca. 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-10-17) Cabrera Illescas, Fabiana Milagros; Ponce Nolivos, Wendy Belen; Morocho Malla, Manuel IsmaelBackground: The university students face changes in their bio-psycho-social sphere and these changes can act as risk or protective factors against toxic substance use. It can be noted that alcohol consumption gains strength in the university community, so it is timely to conduct a research to determine how this risky behavior affects the family and psychological environment of students. Objectives: to determine the prevalence of alcohol consumption and associated risk factors in Medicine students. Methods and materials: An observational, analytical and cross-sectional investigation was carried out. The universe is made up of students of the Medicine career and the sample is made up of 196 students randomly selected. The information was collected through an information collection form. The data was analyzed and tabulated in the SPSS v25 program. Results: 64.8% of university students present a low-risk consumption of alcohol. While 35.2% present a risk consumption of alcohol of which 52.9% belong to families with family dysfunction, 66.2% present depressive symptomatology, 67.6% have anxious symptoms and 66.2% have symptoms of stress. None of these factors presents a statistically significant association. Conclusions: It is concluded that 100% of participants have consumed alcohol, of which 35% presented a risky consumption of alcohol similar to other studies found and is not associated with family dysfunction, depression, anxiety and stress.
