    Conocimientos sobre infecciones respiratorias agudas según AIEPI en madres de niños menores de 5 años, Hospital Mariano Estrella, Cuenca abril - octubre 2016

    BACKGROUND. - Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are a group of diseases caused by different germs; they are the leading cause of morbidity worldwide. The presence of these in children under 5 years of age is independent of the living conditions and level of development. The reality of "Mariano Estrella" Hospital does not deviate from national, it is why during the experiences in different areas of health, and there has been difficulty in the implementation of the IMCI strategy and its relationship with knowledge or ignorance of ARIs by mothers who come to the consultation. GENERAL OBJECTIVE. - Determine knowledge of Acute Respiratory Infections by IMCI in mothers of children under 5 years in the "Mariano Estrella" Hospital. Cuenca, April-October 2016. METHODOLOGY. - Is a descriptive quantitative research, the study population was represented by all mothers of children under 5 years attending the outpatient area of the "Mariano Estrella" Hospital. A structured survey based on items used in previous studies, with the respective pilot control and signing the informed consent form was used for data collection; results with a database in SPSS 15.0 software was created and percentage frequency tables and presented with their analysis. RESULTS. - The survey of 170 mothers, it indicates that 73.5% have a good knowledge level, 25.3% have a regular knowledge level, and 1.2% has a deficient level of knowledge
