    Estado nutricional de niños/as menores de 5 años que acuden al Centro de Desarrollo Infantil Buen Vivir los Pitufos de la parroquia El Valle marzo-septiembre 2014

    The present study is descriptive, aimed at assessing the nutritional status of children / under five years of age. We worked with a finite group consisting of 193 children / as a universe of 200 children / as the child development center of Good Living "Smurfs" Valley of the parish. The technique used was direct observation, taking weight and height, interpretation of results using the growth charts and BMI (Body Mass Index) as a working tool and a form designed by the authors was used, the data were processed and analyzed using Microsoft Word, Excel and SPSS. As results of weight / age 179 children / as are normal weight and 14 underweight for age. Regarding the size / age 153 children / as are normal and 40 with short stature. According to the formula weight / height 150 child / as are normal and 43 child / as malnourished. Regarding Body Mass Index (BMI) 187 children / as are normal, overweight 5 and 1 with low weight. In conclusion we can say that poverty, family imbalance, lack of knowledge about proper nutrition affects growth and development of children / as.
