Síndrome del diente fisurado: una revisión de literatura
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-09-18) Alberca Agreda, Paula Lisseth; Bustamante Granda, Diana Karolina; Tamariz Ordoñez, Pablo Esteban
Cracked Tooth Syndrome is one of the leading causes of tooth loss after dental caries and periodontal disease. It is characterized by a fracture within the tooth structure, which causes pain and discomfort in the patient. For this reason, our objective is to analyze cracked tooth syndrome as a common stomatological condition, addressing its etiology, diagnostic methods, treatment, and impact on oral health. For this literature review, a search was conducted in databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Scielo, Dialnet, and Google Scholar. A total of 31 articles that met the established criteria were selected. After an exhaustive analysis, we concluded that the implementation of preventive measures and the early diagnosis of CTS is essential to prevent complications that may compromise the dental structure, pulp, and periodontal tissues. Moreover, clinical management depends on the severity and location of the crack, with indirect restorations and endodontic treatment being the most commonly used options.
