In the current global context, youth have taken on a significant role in shaping social and political reality through digital platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. This study focuses on understanding how these tools have influenced the participation and political resistance of young people from the University of Cuenca during the October 2019 protests in Ecuador. The research examines how digital platforms have facilitated the organization and spread of social movements, as has occurred in other countries. The youth's adoption of these technologies has allowed the creation of spaces for digital participation and resistance. The impact of digital communication platforms on the generation of collective awareness and the dissemination of protest messages is explored. The study employs interviews with university youth leaders, political leaders, and volunteers as its research method. The aim is to comprehend how digital platforms influenced the political participation of students during the 2019 demonstrations, and how these tools enabled the coordination of actions and information dissemination. The findings of this research will provide a clearer insight into how digital communication platforms have transformed participation and political resistance among university youth. Additionally, it aims to analyze how these digital platforms have modified cultural and social practices of the youth, facilitating the construction of social movements and the expression of political demands.
