    La incidencia de la arquitectura actual en el Centro Histórico de Cuenca: unidad de paisaje #2

    Nowadays the Historical Urban Landscape is considered as one of the main studies when making decisions about a particular legacy, as it does not focus solely on physical elements, but encompasses cultural, environmental and social aspects as well. The city of Cuenca is not exempt of being analized as HUL due to its historical and patrimonial conditions, which took greater strength in 1999, when the city was appointed by the UNESCO as Cultural Heritage of Humanity.The HUL of the city of Cuenca is affected by several factors, such as the new ways of living, arquitectural trends and the implementation of contemporary arquitecture - as an outcome of globalization; the landscape unit #2, between Tarqui, Sucre, President Borreo and Larga streets, present these elements, this being the reason to select it as a study area to carry out the analysis of the incidence of new edifications within historical contexts.The methodology used to evaluate the new buil-dings focuses its analysis on 5 standards: arquitectural, historical, cultural, economic and social; which are applied to 4 study cases. The results allow us to establish the performance criteria for future arquitectural interventions that avoid harming the image of the historical center and seek to empower the visual scanning of the patrimonial city of Cuenca.
