(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-21) Bueno Zhapan, Nathali Stefania; López Orellana, Cindy Tatiana
The current presence of social, academic and personal demands has played an important role in the increase of mental health problems. Faced with this problem, a new model of positive health emerges, called covitality, which is defined as the interaction of positive psychological of positive psychological constructs and factors, which results in an adequate development and well-being of the human being. The objective of the study was to describe covitality in adolescents from educational institutions in the city of Cuenca. The research had a quantitative approach, a non-experimental cross-sectional design and a descriptive scope. The study sample consisted of 492 adolescents, 52.2% were males and 47.8% females, aged 12 to 18 years. The results showed that 55.5% of the adolescents evaluated presented high levels of covitality, with a predominance of high scores in males (M= 113; SD= 22.7) compared to females (M= 109; SD= 22.1). In addition to this, the dimensions that predominated in adolescents were commitment to life and emotional competence. In conclusion, half of the adolescent population presented adequate socioemotional profiles that strengthen their overall well-being and improve their quality of life.
