Item El nivel de estrés percibido en comerciantes de la plaza de san francisco de la ciudad de cuenca – Ecuador, año 2022(2022) Bustamante Verdugo, Maria IsabelThe purpose of this research was to describe the levels of perceived stress in merchants of the Plaza San Francisco in the city of Cuenca. It was developed through a non-experimental quantitative approach of transversal cut, with descriptive scope. The sample taken was of 51 merchants of the San Francisco Plaza. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) with its corresponding informed consent was used as a data collection instrument. It was evidenced that the sample presents, mainly, moderate levels of perceived stress, ranging from 11 to 16 (41.2%). On the other hand, coping skills ranged from 13 to 18 points (49.0%), corresponding to low capacities to respond to stressors. It is concluded that the levels of Perceived Stress were moderate, and it is also evident that the highest percentage of traders do not possess coping skills useful for managing difficult and stressful situations. In relation to general distress, it was possible to demonstrate their high perception of stress in difficult situations, as well as their low control over them.Item Estrés académico en estudiantes universitarios de las carreras de Medicina, Arquitectura, y Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-25) Brito Brito, Karina Alexandra; Tenelema Salazar, Karina ElizabethStress is currently a health problem that affects more and more people, it is a phenomenon that can come from any situation that generates an imbalance in daily functioning. In the educational field, academic stress negatively affects university students because they are in a constant demand of demands, this occurs when the student perceives that certain events or stressors exceed their coping strategies, which can generate discomfort both physically and emotionally. The objective of this study was to describe the level of academic stress in ninth cycle students of the careers of Medicine, Architecture and Psychology at the University of Cuenca, in the period 2024-2025. The research methodology was quantitative, with a descriptive scope, to collect information and understand the nature of this phenomenon, a non-probabilistic sampling by convenience was applied, on the other hand the sample consisted of 106 students of Medicine, Architecture and Psychology of the ninth cycle. The SISCO SV-21 Academic Stress Inventory was used to collect the information, and a sociodemographic form was also used. The results showed that the level of general academic stress was moderate with a slightly higher mean for the Architecture course, in the analysis by dimensions, a severe level of stress was determined for the Architecture course in the stressors dimension. As for the sociodemographic variables, a moderate level of academic stress was obtained in all of them, except for age, where a severe level was determined in the range of 27 to 30 years old. In conclusion, based on the levels obtained, it is evident that the students of the three careers analyzed presented a moderate level of academic stress.
