    Percepción sobre apoyo social de adultos mayores en la comunidad San Miguel – Sayausí

    Aging is a stage of vulnerability due to the loss or deterioration of mental and physical skills, which requires a social support demand for this group of people. General objective was, Explore the perception of social support that older adults have in the San Miguel-Sayausi community. Methodology, was a study with a qualitative approach, cross-cutting, exploratory scope; the participants were 6 elderly men and women native to the community of San Miguel between 65 and 80 years of age. Where a semi-structured interview was applied in depth. Results: older adults perceive informal social support, with great emotional relevance than the material, while the institutions recognize that there is support when they are direct beneficiaries of social projects, whether in the delivery of food, meetings and home visits. Discussion, networks close to older adults are those that provide material and emotional social support; from the institutions complements the support for the integral development of the older adult; it is concluded that social support from nearby networks or from institutions is fundamental as a response to the vulnerability of older adults. It is recommended to use qualitative tools for this type of studies because it allows the information to be profound and interactive, it is a category that is described when narrating and interlacing with new categories developed by each participant. Limitations, the territorial extension of the San Miguel community, the participants live in remote areas, difficult access.
