Características y manejo de fracturas de fémur proximal, en pacientes mayores de 60 años, en el Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga enero 2013 – julio 2016
(2017) Perguachi Jaramillo, Christian Andrés; Sinchi Chuqui, Carlos Andrés; Bravo Aguilar, Christian Romeo; Pacheco Baculima, Juan Pablo
Background: The fracture of the Proximal Femur is the main cause of query in the Area Traumatological overcoat in the elderly population; contributing to an increase of the morbidity and mortality and the functional deterioration of these patients. This injury is produced usually by injuries minor as the falls inside and outside of the home. There are different classifications, however, has been considered the capsule articulate as the anatomical boundary to divide them in extracapsular and intracapsular. Currently the conservative or orthopedic medical treatment has no indication, so that surgical treatment is the most used which uses several implants for their realization and whose election depends not only on the type of fracture, but also of the general condition of the patient. General objective. Determine the characteristics and management of proximal femur fractures in patients older than 60 years in the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, january 2013 - july 2016. Methodological design. This is a retrospective descriptive quantitative study, which is to determine the characteristics and management of proximal femur fractures in patients older than 60 years with data stolen from medical records, which will be tabulated by using tables and analyzed using software (Epi-info, Spss 15.0). Results. The prevalence found was 9.55%, with predominance of females (22.84%) and an age of 82.1 years ± (9.6 DS); The extracapsular fractures were the most frequent (65.2%) with a superiority of the Intertrochanteric ones (57.78%); The most used surgical treatment was osteosynthesis (53.33%) and arterial hypertension was the most common comorbidity with 60% of the cases

Comparación de los resultados del test de marcha de 6 minutos con dos ecuaciones predictivas en el grupo de acondicionamiento físico de la Universidad de Cuenca. Cuenca, 2016
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-11-11) Bernal Román, María Isabel; Córdova Chacho, Daniela; Méndez Sacta, Viviana Catalina; Bravo Aguilar, Christian Romeo
Background: The 6-Minute Walk Test (TM6M) assesses the individual's functional ability. The most commonly used equations for interpretation are those of Enright & Sherrill and Troosters, developed abroad. In Cuenca - Ecuador, there are no investigations in this regard. General Aim: To compare the results of the Six Minute Walk Test with two Predictive Equations in the Physical Conditioning Group of the University of Cuenca. Cuenca, 2016. Methodology: Descriptive and cross-sectional study. The study population consisted of 130 people aged 18 to 25 years old, evaluated according to the variable ages, weight, height, sex, body mass index (BMI) and meters walked. The results were organized, analyzed and interpreted using the SPSS Software version 2.2, in which measures of central tendency, dispersion, student t, ANOVA and Pearson correlation test were obtained. Results: The average distance walked was 655.4 meters. When comparing this data with Enright & Sherrill and Troosters, it is evident that the participants did not reach the optimal meters to walk. However, they surpassed what was estimated by the Enright & Sherrill Low Limit of Normality (LIN) value. When correlating the meters walked with the height and sex, a degree of significance of p <0.05 was evidenced, which did not occur with age, BMI and weight. Conclusion: The equations used in this project did not allow us to accurately predict the meters to be covered in our study population. However, the results can serve as a reference to compare the meters walked by people aged 18 to 25 years old, with cardiorespiratory pathologies

Estudio comparativo de resonancia magnética en pacientes con hernia discal lumbar, previo y posterior al uso del descompresor drx-9000 en pacientes del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga. enero 2014 – diciembre 2014
(2015) Rivas Quezada, Pedro Xavier; Zamora Sarmiento, León Rodrigo; Bravo Aguilar, Christian Romeo
Background: The DRX-900 is a treatment for lumbar disc herniation that not being invasive is taking an increasingly prominent role in addressing. Magnetic resonance imaging study is currently mostly used for diagnosis of herniated discs. Little is known of the changes in the use of lumbar posterior decompression MRI. Objective: Determine the existence of changes in MRI, after the use of the DRX9000 decompression in patients with lumbar disc herniation Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga. January 2014 - December 2014. Methodological Design: The study is retrospective comparative quantitative and descriptive, was sampled 100 reports of MRI. The variables analyzed were type of hernia, degenerative changes of the disc hernia location, distance from the disk, disk displacement, amplitude changes neuroforamen and subsequent resonance. Data were obtained from medical records of patients, were transferred to a form, after which the entry into the program SPSS version 22 for analysis. Results: The focal hernia is most commonly found in most of the cases there were subsequent changes in the use of magnetic resonance, changes are reflected in the amplitude of neuroforamen.

BACKGROUND: Acromioclavicular dislocation is shoulder injury most prevalent in those who play contact sports, it also relates to a high rate of transit accidents, by what is important to know its prevalence and the risk factors associated for appropriate treatment. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of acromioclavicular dislocation and treatments in patients in the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga in the period January 2010 December 2014. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional descriptive study was used, whose universe were the medical records of patients who received at the emergency service at the hospital José Carrasco Arteaga from January 2010 to December 2014. Information was collected from the AS 400 data base, it was analyzed using SPSS 15.0 and Epi -Info 7 using frequency distributions and percentages. The results are presented in graphs, and simple and combined tables. RESULTS. In this study 120 patients diagnosed of acromioclavicular dislocation, showed a prevalence of 3.7 cases for each 1.000, who were treated in the José Carrasco Arteaga hospital. In this study 86 cases were included. The most affected were men representing 91.9 %. The dislocation most common was type III representing 59.3 %. The associate injury most common was the clavicle fracture in 4.7 %. The most frequent mechanism was the direct impact with 91.9 % of the cases. Treatment varies depending on the type of dislocation. Of these cases, 41, 9 % was associated with traffic accidents
