Item Prevalencia de violencia intrafamiliar y de género en mujeres de la comunidad de Macuma en el periodo 2023 -2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-05-31) Berzosa Flores, Mariel Estefania; López Garzón, Darwin Ariel; Vega Crespo, Bernardo JoséBackground: Domestic and gender-based violence in Ecuador predominantly affects women, manifesting in physical, psychological, economic, sexual, and social control forms. Understanding the factors and processes of this violence is crucial to identifying signs and symptoms in affected women and providing appropriate social and healthcare. Objective: The study aimed to determine the prevalence of domestic and gender-based violence among women in the community of Macuma during the period 2023-2024. Methods: A descriptive method with a quantitative approach was used. Surveys based on the INTRAFAMILY VIOLENCE MEASUREMENT SCALE VIFJ4 were applied to a sample of 107 women, selected with an 80% confidence interval and a 5% alpha error. The data were processed using SPSS version 24 and analyzed through frequencies and percentages, presented in tables according to the study’s objectives. Results: The results showed a high prevalence of gender-based violence, with 92.5% of women affected. Physical violence reached 46.46%, psychological violence 66.66%, sexual violence 38.38%, social violence 61.61%, patrimonial violence 46.46%, and gender-based violence 48.48%. A statistically significant relationship was found between alcohol consumption and violence, unlike drug consumption, which did not show a significant relationship. Conclusion: Gender-based violence is a significant social issue in the community of Macuma, evidenced by the high rates of its various forms
