Item Influencia sociocultural en el acceso y uso de métodos de planificación familiar en mujeres de edad fértil de la comunidad de Huertas, Santa Isabel 2015(2016) Bermeo Villa, Nancy Adriana; Cazho Morocho, Rosa Elena; Idrovo Uriguen, Jaime Patricio; Clavijo Morocho, Nube JhanethSUMMARY: Family planning responds to the right of individuals to decide the number of children they want and timing of pregnancies, and information and access to the necessary means. Background: In rural communities there sociocultural factors that influence the decision to choose a family planning method. General Objective: To characterize the sociocultural influence on access to and use of family planning methods by women of childbearing age. Methodology: a descriptive study with 168 women from Huertas community, parish Shaglli of the Santa Isabel Region, in 2015, who consented were performed. Data were collected by interview with a guide previously structured, according to the study variables, and tabulated and analyzed using SPSS 19 and Microsoft Excel 2010 program. Results: The largest age group, young people aged 15-24 (47%), of rural origin, secondary education and average level of income, and with 1-2 children; predomi-nantly Catholic, they have received information on family planning methods through the Health Center, while 39.3% admit not take any contraceptive practice fearing the possible infertility. However, 41.7% said the use of contraceptive use, while 11.3% said the headache as complication arising during use. 20.2% reported not using any method, although 62.5% say it is the couple that assumes family planning
