Item Anteproyecto del diseño arquitectónico del mercado central Abdón Calderón del cantón La Troncal, de la provincia del Cañar(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Arquitectura, 2026-01-08) Bermeo Nivelo, Paulina Elizabeth; Flores Encarnacion, Mireya Indira; Ramos Monori, Jeimis LeonardoThe present degree project consists of the development of the preliminary design for the Abdón Calderón Central Market, located in the cantonal capital of La Troncal, in the province of Cañar. Its objective is to meet the needs of the population, improve the conditions of the existing market, and enhance the commercial development of the area. The proposal is carried out in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Cuenca and supported by the Municipal GAD of La Troncal, with the aim of establishing a future cooperation agreement. The research is organized into four chapters. The first chapter compiles the historical, geographical, cultural, economic, and demographic background of La Troncal, as well as the theoretical foundations regarding urban facilities, market typologies, and applicable regulations, which form the conceptual basis of the project. The second chapter presents a comparative analysis of case studies, focused on issues such as accessibility, relationship with the urban context, bioclimatic criteria, and structural aspects, from which guidelines applicable to the preliminary design are derived. The third chapter examines the site analysis, considering mobility, solar exposure, prevailing winds, landscape, and other key variables that determine the project’s optimal location. Finally, the fourth chapter describes the architectural preliminary design, integrating the research findings to address the functional and spatial requirements of the new market, along with conclusions and recommendations that strengthen its contribution to local development. In summary, the preliminary design for the Abdón Calderón Central Market represents a technically solid and socially relevant proposal, grounded in rigorous research that seeks to improve commercial dynamics and serve as a reference for sustainable urban development in La Troncal.
