(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-11-11) Bermeo Chimbo, Vanessa Soledad; Monje Ñauta, Lorena Alexandra; Cobos Cobos, Diego Fernando
Background In soccer an improper alignment of knees or alterations of foot put at risk of suffering injuries to the players because in the inferior member the effort becomes excessive. Therefore, to determine alterations, it is important to carry out an evaluation of the Q angle and footprint measurement. General objective To determine the prevalence of genu valgo, genu varo, flat foot and foot cavo in the female players of the "Carneras" UPS team, Cuenca 2017. Methodology This cross - sectional descriptive study was carried out in 60 players of the Carneras team, 2017. The Arch Index method described by Cavanagh and Rodgers1, was used to measure plantar footprint, and knee alignment was assessed by measuring the Q angle described by Brattstrom2. The database was processed in the PSPP program. Results are expressed using descriptive statistics. Results In reference to the Q angle, bilateral normal knee was present in 72.22% (n= 26), a bilateral variance of 22.22% (n= 8) and a bilateral valgus of 5.56% (n= 2). As for the plantar footprint, bilateral normal foot was present in 54.05% (n= 20), in bilateral flat foot, 37.84% (n= 14) and bilateral foot in 8.11% (n= 3). Conclusions The prevalence of knee and foot alterations found in the Carneras team has a negative effect on the players putting them at risk of injury throughout the lower limb kinetic chain; hence the importance of an early evaluation.
