    Green Nudges en el Plan de Desarrollo y Ordenamiento Territorial de Cuenca, para la mitigación y adaptación del cambio climático

    This thesis investigated the effectiveness of implementing green nudges in the Development and Territorial Planning Plan (PDOT) in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, for the mitigation and adaptation to climate change. The study was justified by the growing need to integrate new tools and approaches in planning and territorial management to combat the consequences of climate change. An extensive analysis of climate change, green nudges and territorial planning in Cuenca was carried out. The research also reviewed existing public policies and evaluated the potential benefit of implementing green nudges in the PDOT update. The findings suggest that green nudges, small interventions in the environment that promote sustainable behaviors, could be effective in improving public policies for adapting and mitigating climate change in Cuenca. Green nudges were identified as low-cost interventions that could have a significant impact on citizens' behavior and their relationship with the natural environment. From this study, it is suggested to explicitly incorporate green nudges in the next update of Cuenca's PDOT. It also calls for increased efforts in terms of education and awareness about climate change and the importance of sustainable practices. In addition, it recommends promoting citizen participation and multisectoral collaboration, as well as implementing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of the implemented green nudges. The study concludes that the use of green nudges can be an effective tool to address mitigation and adaptation to climate change in the city of Cuenca. The findings and recommendations provide a solid foundation for future policies and studies on this subject.
