(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-01-07) Barrera Campoverde, Gracia Valeria; Encalada Calle, Daniel Alberto
The main objective of this study was to determine which factors influence the construction of the risk perception of the inhabitants of the Las Rosas neighborhood. The qualitative method was applied, with a descriptive, documentary and analytical design, the approach was through a case study from a holistic perspective allowing to understand the social, cultural and environmental factors that influence the construction of risk in the sector addressed, considering the social structures, environmental conditions, local policies and cultural practices in an area with a high degree of vulnerability and imminent danger of suffering some type of disaster. The techniques used were interviews and participant observation, in addition to secondary information being scientific evidence. Ten social actors from the sector participated. Coding was carried out using ATLAS software. TI. Among the results, it was determined that the perception of these phenomena was initially underestimated and that preventive measures were not taken, which originated feelings of insecurity and vulnerability in the face of landslide risk. There was evidence of a lack of preparedness and knowledge in the face of such a situation where the factors were housing constructions in vulnerable areas, absence of effective policies or territorial planning, as well as reactive responses by the authorities and economic inequality, without considering the human, emotional and socioeconomic needs of the residents. It is concluded that risk perception is related to multiple factors such as economic, cultural, political, social, and environmental; These factors interrelate with each other creating a perception of risk. Therefore, it is essential to contrast the perception of risk with scientific and technical evaluations through effective and collaborative communication between experts, authorities and residents.
