Item Dimensiones del autoestima de las personas LGBTIQ+ de las organizaciones sociales de Cuenca, 2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-06) Banegas Cajamarca, Cristina Jamilet; Loja Cajamarca, Karla Estefanía; Peña Contreras, Eva KarinaPositive self-esteem is essential for a fulfilling and satisfactory life in various areas such as personal, educational, work, and family. Its absence can lead to negative effects such as depression, anxiety, social isolation, and others. This research aims to describe the dimensions of self-esteem within the LGBTIQ+ population in social organizations in Cuenca, 2024. The Rosenberg scale and a sociodemographic form with eight variables (age, biological sex, sexual orientation and gender identity, family acceptance, education level, employment type, income, and social organization) were used. The sample consisted of 40 individuals selected through convenience sampling. The results revealed that 30 individuals, corresponding to 75%, have a positive dimension of self-esteem, associated with an age range of 41-65 years, intersex biological sex, and a lesbian, transsexual, transgender, or non-binary sexual orientation and gender identity. These individuals have family acceptance, higher education, paid employment, and income above the minimum wage. On the other hand, 10 individuals (25%) exhibit a negative dimension of self-esteem, linked to an age range of 18-20 years, male biological sex, bisexual orientation and identity, lack of family acceptance, medium education level, no paid employment, and income below the minimum wage. In conclusion, although the majority of the LGBTIQ+ population has positive self-esteem, various sociodemographic factors contribute to the prevalence of negative self-esteem in this group.
