Results: The frequency of gastric cancer in the six periods of the study was 14,2%, the male sex was 52,19%, showing with significance and association statistical; 97,92% corresponded to an age between 30 and 95 years, finding association and significance statistical in more than 50 years. The 78,5% of the patients came from the Health Zone Six. The blood group “O” obtained the highest frequency index in positives with 10,8%. The presence of gastric cancer is presented in the following order: "O", "A", "B Conclusions: The gastric cancer has a frequency of 14,2% in the study periods, predominating the blood groups O, the male sex and age group over 50 years. (Universidad de Cuenca, 2018-11-11) Alvarracin Lalvay, Miguel Ángel; Peñafiel Calle, Gabriela Alexandra; Baculima Tenesaca, José Mauricio
Background: The study of Creatin Kinase (CK) and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) in sports facilitates the collection of data about muscle status. In athletes, regardless of their physical activity, they may be subject to a set of programmed routines and this must be m to achieve the desired results. High percentages of these serum enzymes in apparently healthy individuals may be correlated with the level of physical exercise; if enzymes persist high while body be at rest, they may be a warning of the existence for some muscular disease. An increase of these enzymes contributes in sports medicine to quantify the effects of physical activity on the human body, favoring in the prevention and treatment of injuries that can trigger different diseases. General objective: To determine CK Total, CK-MB and LDH in athletes from 14 to 18 years belonging to the Sports Federation of Cañar. Methodology: The study was descriptive - transversal, the universe and sample was constituted by 180 athletes, who signed an informed consent or assent to preserve the information; the same that was tabulated with SPSS software version 22.0 in Spanish and analyzed according to the variables of, age, sex, type of sports discipline and hours of daily training. Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) occur very frequently throughout the life of the human being and are one of the main causes of medical consultation by female patients. UTIs have been constantly studied; however, few data are available on recurrent infections, causal and predisposing agents, as well as the most frequent complications. Objective: To identify the microorganisms that cause recurrent urinary tract infection and its complications in female patients who attended the Homero Castanier Crespo hospital. Methodology: A retrospective investigation was carried out, 706 patients with a report of UTI were selected and 63 of them presented episodes of recurrence. Only those patients with a positive urine culture were taken into account to obtain more precise data. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the information; qualitative and quantitative variables were proposed and to relate these variables, the prevalence ratio was considered with the 95% confidence intervals and the p value. Results: After the development of the investigation, the main microorganisms that cause recurrent urinary tract infections were identified as E. coli in 90.5% of the cases, followed by Enterobacter spp and Klebsiella spp; likewise, the most common complications were identified as cistitis in the 25% of the cases and pyelonephritis in 17.6%. However, the majority of patients did not report to suffer from any complication. Conclusions: Recurrent urinary tract infections are infrequent in patients at the Homero Castanier Crespo hospital in the city of Azogues, Ecuador. Mainly reinfections were reported. Most of the patients belonged to the adult population and this is associated with reproductive age. The most frequent complication was identified as cystitis.

Anemia is classified as a public health problem, where the content of hemoglobin in the blood is below the reference values. This value is modified with age, sex, pregnancy, and geographic location. Athletes are prone to suffer a decrease in iron in their body, due to loss or inadequate intake of this mineral that compromise their physical performance and resistance, which is why they can develop a secondary anemia, by hemolysis and oxidative stress that originates when carrying out high resistance exercises, which lead to frequent digestive hemorrhages due to the decrease of iron (1) (2). OBJECTIVE: To determine the hematological parameters in the athletes of the Sports Federation of Cañar 2017. METHODOLOGY: The study was observational and descriptive. The universe consisted of 180 athletes; the sample was worked with the 180 participants by request of the Sports Federation of Cañar. The research project was socialized, giving the respective consents, informed assent and the application of a form. The samples were processed in the Clinical Laboratory of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital fulfilling all the biosafety and quality management standards, the data were tabulated in the SPSS V 15.0 of free configuration in spanish and Excel program. RESULTS: The most predominant age was 14 years with 38.9%, the male with 26.7%, and 55.6% come from the coast, the hours of training that predominates is two hours with 57.2%. The results, in the white series shows leukocytosis of 5.6% and leukopenia of 2.8%, in the red series, 8.9% (Sierra) and 11.1% (Costa), had high values of red blood cells, in the hematocrit the 7.8% of high values correspond to the coast. The erythrocyte indexes with high values of 0.6% were in the VCM and CHCM.

Methodology: A total of 87 fruit vendors at the Feria Libre market were included in the study, and 261 samples were collected, comprising 87 samples of strawberries, 87 samples of grapes, and 87 samples of blackberries. Identification techniques used included the fresh method, concentration method, and modified Ziehl Neelsen-Kinyoun staining. Data collection was conducted through a survey, and the results were recorded in a digital database. The tabulation and analysis were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25 trial version, Microsoft Excel 2016, and Microsoft Word 2016. Results: Out of the 261 samples, 40.59% tested positive for the presence of parasites. Pathogenic parasites predominated, accounting for 60%, with Entamoeba histolytica/dispar being the most frequent. Concerning the sociodemographic data of the vendors, 74.7% were female. In terms of age, 55.2% were adults between 36 and 64 years old, 57.5% resided in urban areas, 58.6% had access to sanitation facilities, and 68.8% obtained drinking water from a public network.
