    Background: The first descriptions of patients suffering from urine back to the year 1550 before the Christian era, in the papyri found in Egypt. Hippocrates, 400 years before Jesus Christ stressed the importance of observing urine diseases uroscopy interpreting sediment characteristics. In 1884, Escherich, a German pediatrician identified the bacteria that bears his name and 1894 showed their presence in the urine of patients with urinary tract infection. Objectives: To identify the characteristics of obstetric complications in urinary tract infection, during the second and third trimester of pregnancy, in patients treated at the service of gynecology and obstetrics of HVCM in the period January December 2015. Method and Techniques: A descriptive study of all medical records of patients diagnosed with urinary tract infection in the area of gynecology and obstetrics HVCM, data were obtained through observation of medical records by performed researchers, which were recorded on a form for further analysis and tabulation in SPSS 19.0 system. Results: The ITU in the sample of pregnant patients included in the study are presented with the highest incidence in women aged 20-35 years (74.4%), multiparous (56,2%), and in the third trimester of pregnancy (87,6%). The major obstetric complications were the RPM (43%), the APP (22,3%), PP (24%)
