Item Case study apartments # 2. El último de los case study projects(Universidad de Cuenca, 2012-11-11) García Cando, Michael Israel; Astudillo Cordero, Juan PabloCase Study Apartments # 2: The last of the Case Study Projects, is actually the last project proposed within the Case Study Hause program. Is a set of low-rise multifamily housing by Killingsworth, Brady & Asociates developed in 1964 to be placed in California, but it was no built, so this study focuses on a theoretical construction based on the work of Edward Killingsworth, Julius Brady and Waugh Smith, deepening the analysis of the Case Study House # 25 by their similarity of design and resolution of the object study. The Case Study # 25 has a global configuration equivalent to the Case Study Apartments 2 in distribution, relationship of spaces, closing facades, global image and structure, so its choice as a reference was successful, but however insufficient, so a global visual analysis of the author's work is exposed in a graphic catalog in order to obtaining data and conclusions necessary for successful complementation and reconstruction of CSA 2. The global conclusion is that the totality of the set derived from the CSH # 25 of 1962, that the two-storey house from Opdahl House of 1957, and the Spaulding House of 1965 (post-CSA # 2) of the one-story homes. The best conclusion is the words of Julius Shulman about the work of Edward Killingsworth, " His homes are the best and the most elegant of anyone’s ".Item Complejo turístico para la comunidad de Pamarkay(2012) Zhiña Benavides, Carlos Fernando; Astudillo Cordero, Juan PabloItem Diseño de núcleo básico con el presupuesto adquirido por el bono de la vivienda y su posterior crecimiento "formas de habitar, criterios bioclimáticos y sistema constructivo sostenible"(2015) Chérrez Rodas, Karina Alexandra; Maldonado Marchán, María Elizabeth; Pozo Palacios, María Gabriela; Astudillo Cordero, Juan PabloAfteranalyzinggovernment’s social housingprograms and findthattheproposals are notvery susceptible tochangesfacinganevolvingdemand, in thisstudywepropose a basiccore as a product, process and continuouschangingsystem, achievedthroughanunitaryspace, as a settledsolutionfrom human origins and analternativeforsmallspaces. After reaching a general overview, about those who have contributed to the development of the architecture of Souto de Moura, the research is directed towards the analysis of his constructed work, with a focus on sloping single-family housing, through the analysis of two works. The works, Casa em Cascais and Duas Casas em Ponte de Lima, analyzes the possibility to recognize processes that can be adapted to the local reality and that are of great value for the worlds architecture. The importance of studying the career and work of such an outstanding architect expands horizons and contributes to the development of critical thinking, while at the same time, relates these processes to the immediate context.Item Paneles de bahareque prefabricado y aplicación a una vivienda(2015) Vacacela Albuja, Nina Pani; Astudillo Cordero, Juan PabloNowadays building materials, generate pollution, debris and high energy costs; therefore the aim of this work is to offer an alternative and sustainable self-structure construction system that guarantees a healthy society, and environment; being economic, thermal, and acoustically suitable; of easy assembly, transportation and placement. To accomplish this idea, we looked for a traditional, versatile and well known construction system that does not require skilled workers, does not pollute, and is earthquake resistant. We also searched for a system capable to reduce costs, generate employment, and that could be done with minga (community voluntary work). We confirmed through preliminary investigation: that bahareque covered all these needs; that mud is suitable for it; and that it is feasible to be applied in all Ecuadorian regions. In order to demonstrate the proposed construction system properties and potential versus block and brick building systems we analyze comfort, strength, finishing, electric power consumption, and price. As a result of this work and search we have got a completely prefabricated building system, which uses natural materials, therefore it is environmentally-friendly, inexpensive, and adapts to different climates, and cultures. Finally, the belief that mud is unable to evolve and only for the poor, is demystified in this investigation.Item El portal como espacio colectivo, vínculo entre edificio y área pública. Cuenca como caso de estudio, Plaza Central y Las Herrerías(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-01-23) Castillo Cabrera, Luis Paúl; Astudillo Cordero, Juan PabloThe portals are very important space that has been present for a long time in local buildings and their surroundings, we have focused on analyzing this type of construction from the functional and architectural point of view, its spaces and its morphology. In a first attempt to approach our main research topic, we inserted ourselves in a historical framework to clearly know the origin and evolution of the portal, the same one that has presented since its inception, variations in both its design and its usefulness. When talking about the portal, we also talk about public space, which is why in this work a specific section has been assigned to deal with the issue, because collective spaces arise from the mechanisms of the housing groups. The case study of this research work focuses on Cuenca city, which architecture has also undergone an important evolution and where history tells us its transformation. Equally, during the investigation, the ordinances that determined the guidelines for the beginning of the construction of portals in Cuenca could be compiled, whose transcendental aspect was based on the location of portals around the square with materials from the region. Finally, this paper presents case analysis of portals located around the central square of Cuenca and a portal located on Las Herrerias street in which vernacular architecture is appreciated.Item Prefabricados estructurales cerámicos para cubierta en la ciudad de Cuenca(2016) Cordero Durán, Nataly Lorena; Orellana Lliguaipuma, Andrea Francisca; Astudillo Cordero, Juan PabloOver the course of history, men has sought to protectthemselvesfrom the inclemencies of weatherdeveloping a variety of constructive systems and materials to covertheirspaces. From a historical consideration and a terminological analysis about the heritage, this work gets an understanding about the use of materials, techniques and their value. Then, through the sampling, observation and analysis of the houses, interior spaces and finishings we get the graphic and technical register of 12 prominent houses.
