Item Implementación y validación de un programa basado en el método de elementos finitos para la solución de problemas cuasi-estáticos en cuerpos bidimensionales(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-06-05) Asmal Rodas, Pedro Miguel; Yumbla Cadme, Leonel Octavio; Zalamea León, Juan Fernando; Samaniego Alvarado, Esteban PatricioThe finite element method (FEM) is a tool used for the discretization and analysis of continuous media. However, many of the programs based on this method require expensive licenses and do not provide access to the source code. Therefore, this degree work focuses on implementing and validating a program based on the finite element method to solve two-dimensional body problems under quasi-static conditions. To achieve this goal, an existing software called FSIPY was adapted and modified through debugging and programming processes, based on the plane elasticity theory. Subsequently, the behavior of the results of the modified software was verified to be similar in terms of displacements and stresses by benchmarking with SAP2000 and ABAQUS. The FSIPY software modification proved to be compatible with the quasi- static analysis and showed convergence when increasing number of elements, where relative differences in the order of 1% in terms of displacements were evidenced. This study successfully validated an open-source and free access program, making it a useful tool for the development of new modules applicable in various engineering areas such as Structural Engineering, Geotechnics, Hydraulics, among others.
