(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-08-17) Arias Espinoza, Priscilla Elizabeth; Torres Palchisaca, Galo Alfredo
The responsibility of the director in the cinema is one of the most important tasks to develop, since it is he or she who is going to give his point of view regarding what and how to film. In documentary film, the role of the director is handled under an ethic different from that used in fiction, since, it has been debated and is still debated about the "regard" and the "place" of the director when shooting his movie. Based on the theoretical and historical study of cinematographic currents known as Direct Cinema, observational mode and contemplative cinema, the present work has served to generate a direction proposal for the realization of the documentary film Lira de Oro (2018). In addition, there will be a brief historical review of documentary film and we will take as reference author Bill Nichols and his book The Representation of Reality (1997) to discussthe concepts of look and place in documentary film, related in turn with those of the worldview, ethics and politics
