This monographic work is located in the field of Basic Education, specifically in the area of Language and Literature. The purpose of this research was to determine bibliographically to what extent graphomotor development prior to and during the second year of elementary school has an impact on the learning process of writing. This work is structured in three chapters in which the graphomotor development, the learning of writing and the relationship between these two elements are theoretically presented. For this purpose, pertinent bibliographic material was reviewed, analyzed and synthesized, which demonstrated that graphomotor development occurs thanks to the control of hand and arm movements together with visual-manual coordination, necessary for the child to make free strokes with simple writing utensils at an early age. On the other hand, writing is conceived as any graphic production made by the child on a surface with the intention of communicating something. Finally, it was found that graphomotor development has a significant influence before and during the process of learning to write in second grade children. For this reason, it is essential to apply graphomotor development activities that enhance the learning process of writing, as this ensures a correct learning process of writing skills.
