(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-05-12) Alvarez Bravo, Joseline Valeria; Auquilla Chuchuca, Michelle Mariela; Mendieta Orellana, Mónica Elisabeth
University students are exposed to academic stress that triggers a series of consequences on a physical, psychological, social and family level. The current Covid -19 health crisis generates a greater family presence in student life, due to the sudden change in the modality of studies, especially in first-cycle students, who are in a new and unknown, but demanding situation. In this context, the principal objective of the research is establish the incidence that academic stress produces in the family relationships of the 219 first cycle students between 17 and 36 years old. The research is quantitative, based on the hypothetical deductive method, with a descriptive and correlational exploratory level of depth. The instrument used to collect the information was the survey, which was created from the SISCO Inventory of Academic Stress, proposed by Arturo Barraza; and, from the Family Relations Evaluation Scale, by the authors Rivera and Andrade. The results obtained demonstrate the incidence of academic stress in the family relationships of the students, highlighting that 52.5% present an average level of academic stress and 60.7% who are in an average quality of family relationships, present greater difficulties. The research provides intervention strategies, from the area of Social Work, in order to contribute to the management of academic stress and the strengthening of family relationships, which constitute a fundamental factor of resilience, especially in crisis situations.
