Item La Depresión como factor de riesgo del intento de suicidio en los pacientes que ingresan al departamento de emergencia del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca. Agosto 2006-febrero 2007(2007) Alomía Castro, Paúl Esteban; Cañizares Mora, María Fernanda; Dután Erráez, Holger GonzaloDescriptive study in which the existence of the association of suicide with the study variables was established. We have used the observational method, with a source of direct data collection through a structured interview using a scale based on Beck deprecion form. In the results it was evident the significant association of depression with suicide attempt, since all study subjects showed some degree of depression, of which the groups that had more to do with the intendo suicide were males, with an average age of 30 years, primary education, and those who are married cohabiting co vivn. It is believed that in order to reduce the rate of suicide attempts should be treated early stages of depression as an indirect means of prevention, as demonstrated the association between these two variablesItem Espirometría forzada en niños escolares sanos de 9 años de edad bajo las recomendaciones de la ATS/ERS Cuenca 2013(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014-11-11) Alomía Castro, Paúl Esteban; Silva Vásquez, Miriam Patricia; Arévalo Peláez, Carlos EduardoIntroduction: The evaluation of lung function should be with forced spirometry, reference values for spirometric indices must be obtained in each region by its own characteristics, in order to make a proper diagnosis and management of respiratory disease. Objective: To determine reference values for forced spirometry in healthy children 9 years under the recommendations of the ATS / ERS of the urban area of the city of Cuenca, 2013. Materials and Methods: Descriptive study in 173 children of both sexes, healthy 9 years old, studying in urban schools of the city of Cuenca. The sample was obtained between the months of March to June 2013 through forced spirometry and spirometry values were analyzed using multivariate linear regression. Results: Of the 173 spirometry, 98 children (56.6%) and 75 girls (43.4 %) were included. Spirometric values for FVC indices were an average of 2.06 liters and a DS of 0.38, for a mean FEV1 1.94 liters and a DS of 0.34, relative to the average CVF/VEF1 94.15% and a DS of 4.91, an average of 3.74 for FEF25 and a DS of 0.82 for FEF50 an average of 2.95 and a DS of 0.67 and for FEF75 one average of 1.62 and a DS of 0.50. Conclusions: The spirometric values should be obtained in each population and age group for better assessment of pulmonary function. The size is correlated with most of spirometric indices (FVC, FEV1, FEF25, FEF50), whereas the weight influences the FVC, FEV1 and FEF75 and sex influences only in FEF25.
