Childhood, as a social category, has been commonly studied from an approach of city, making invisible infancy and its way of life in the rural context. For this reason, this investigation will present a study that analyzes childhood in rural areas, making use of the memories of Baños inhabitants, which is a rural locality in Cuenca County. The temporality of study to be considered covers the childhoods lived during the second half of the 20th century to the present, an issue that resulted in a contrast between the generations of infants. The following research will permit an approach to the building of meanings that are attributed to childhood in rural contexts, providing a reflective space on the children's roles in a social environment. It not only will aim at emphasizing the importance of children’s games as a way of providing knowledge and customs that impacted the infants’ growth in the Baños locality using ethnographic techniques such as semi-structured interviews for its analysis but also identify the effect of urban development and technological advances in the rural childhood.
