(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-11-28) Arévalo Abril, Josué Miguel; Elizalde Ramírez, Carlos Eduardo; Alex Daniel Serrano Tapia
The accelerated demographic growth and the constant political conflicts have forced social housing to adapt to the circumstances of the era, the need to grant shelter to families in need has pushed the focus to be on the quantity leaving in the background the quality of the social housing. Moreover, the changes in the way of living of the habitants have affected the conditions of habitability and the way of conceiving projects of social interest. Therefore, it is essential to study the parameters and indicators that define habitability in the housing, to be able to evaluate and obtain an index of habitability. Using these series of parameters, 3 study cases in the city of Cuenca Ecuador were analyzed with the purpose of knowing the degree of habitability, and the positive and the negative aspects that these projects present. Finally, based on the results obtained in the local context, design strategies are applied to conceive a habitable social housing prototype with the ability to adapt to the different needs of its inhabitants.
