Item Characterization of used lubricant oil in a Latin-American medium-size city and analysis of options for its regeneration(2021) Sánchez Alvarracín, Carlos Mauricio; Criollo Bravo, Jéssica Ximena; Albuja Arias, Daniela Alexandra; García Ávila, Fausto Fernando; Peláez Samaniego, Manuel RaúlPublication Domestic wastewater treatment at the single-family level using a septic tank and constructed wetland system: a scientometric and systematic analysis(2023) García Ávila, Fausto Fernando; Albuja Arias, Daniela Alexandra; Criollo Bravo, Jéssica Ximena; Sánchez Alvarracín, Carlos Mauricio; Vivar Martínez, Edgar FabiánThe study of wastewater treatment at the single-family level is of great interest to researchers around the world. This study focused on making a scientometric analysis and a systematic review of the treatment of domestic wastewater at the single-family level through a septic tank (ST) and constructed wetland (CW) system. For which the publications from 2002 to 2022 registered in the Scopus database were recovered. For the systematic review, the PRISMA approach was used to verify the efficiency of the wastewater treatment system integrated by an ST and CW. After the respective exclusion, a total of 166 articles were obtained. The findings of this study revealed that the leading countries in this field of research are the USA, Brazil, China, Norway, and Poland. The most recurrent words were artificial wetlands, septic tanks, and domestic wastewater. The systematic review showed that the integration of an ST with a CW is an alternative for wastewater treatment at the single-family level. This integrated system allows the achievement of high BOD5 and COD removal efficiencies. Meanwhile, the removal of phosphorous and nitrogen has been moderate. However, research is needed on the costs and reuse of the effluent from this treatment system; as well as, to evaluate the efficiency of the application of deflectors in the STs and the use of ornamental plants in the CWs. This study helps researchers in this field to identify sanitation trends that have emerged in the last 20 years, serving as a reference for future research.Item Evaluación de la calidad de agua y suelo y propuesta de un plan de manejo ambiental en la comunidad de Jalupata del cantón El Tambo, provincia del Cañar(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-07-19) Simbaina Guamán, Luis Miguel; Albuja Arias, Daniela AlexandraThe implementation of environmental management plans allows a balanced and optimal development for the populations because, through the implementation of techniques, it minimizes the environmental impact and allows the conservation of ecosystems. The present study was carried out in the community of Jalupata, located in the canton of El Tambo, province of Cañar, where a certain part of its surface is part of the Sangay National Park. The objectives are based on a baseline study of the area in order to determine possible sources of contamination in the area through laboratory analysis to consider the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the environment and then propose an objective treatment. Finally, the Environmental Management Plan was addressed to the members of the Jalupata community and the authorities of the El Tambo canton. Strategies were proposed to allow the development of agricultural and livestock activities, based on sustainable processes. Progressive contamination processes were determined in which the imbalance of chemical compounds caused alterations in the different environments. Likewise, when collecting information from the environment, there was no real data, resulting in biases in part of the research and concluding in the need to collect information in situ in the area for future research.Item Evaluación del impacto ambiental debido a las actividades de la feria de ganado del cantón Biblián y propuesta de un plan de manejo ambiental(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-01-08) González Vásconez, Erika Jacqueline; Ulloa Iñaguazo, Diana Carolina; Albuja Arias, Daniela AlexandraTo the south of the canton Biblián (province of Cañar) the activity of cattle fair takes place on Saturdays. This activity generates environmental problems such as: noise, wastewater discharge (in the Burgay river that passes next to the fair place), animal feces, dust, bad odors, solid waste, atmospheric emissions (produced by vehicles who attend the fair) and pathogenic microorganisms. However, there are no studies that have evaluated the degree of contamination and the possible effects on the environment of the place, therefore, in this thesis we have carried out an environmental impact assessment, which allows us to estimate the severity of the damage and also allows us to formulate an environmental management plan. To carry out this evaluation, the Conesa Fernández-Vítora matrix was used and samples were also taken to determine the quality of the water, air and soil that is directly influenced by the fair, in addition, the economic benefits were also analyzed. The results of the evaluation indicated that there were several impacts that were of moderate degree and also some that were of severe degree. Based on these impacts, an environmental management plan was formulated that contributes to the prevention, mitigation and mitigation of damagesItem Optimización de los procesos de potabilización de agua en la Planta de Tratamiento de Sústag-Etapa(2010) Albuja Arias, Daniela Alexandra; Illescas Criollo, Juana Marcela; Vázquez Sempértegui, PatricioItem Plan de manejo de la laguna de Quituiña ubicada en la parroquia Paccha, Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador(2019-12-05) Ordoñez Guillca, Elizabeth Guadalupe; Vintimilla Zhingre, Gabriela Beatríz; Albuja Arias, Daniela AlexandraIn the present study, there is a proposal for an Environmental Management Plan for the Quituiña Lagoon. It is located in the Paccha parish, and it is a basic and important water resource for the community. Therefore, that is a vulnerable to anthropogenic contamination, for that reason, environmental measures were proposed to its conservation, since there is a danger that it will disappear due to the activities carried out by the human being. Information is compiled with a base line, which allows us to know the current situation of the Quituiña lagoon, which includes a biophysical, socio-economic and cultural diagnosis. Subsequently, the Environmental Impact Matrix was applied, a methodology belonging to Vicente Conesa Fernández - Vitora (1997), with which the most significant negative environmental risks were identified. Finally, known and evaluated the negative environmental problems, it was programmed and made a citizen participation was carried out with the population of the community of Quituiña and representatives of the parish GAD of Paccha, in order to elaborate the Environmental Management Plan that will mitigate and prevent the problems.
