Item Características del trauma en el servicio de emergencia del HVCM entre 1999-2003(2005) Aguilar Astudillo, Juan José; Aguirre Vintimilla, Marcos Andres; Díaz Carrasco, Juan José; Figueroa Morales, Francisco Efraín; Mosquera Vallejo, Lorena ElizabethTrauma is currently one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide in young populations, being the city of Cuenca, part of this reality, which is why it has set the objective to make a retrospective study on the characteristics of trauma Emergency service of Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital reference center trauma patients at the regional level during the period 1999-2003. Among the objectives that arise is determining the total number of patients seen by trauma, the number of patients served by trauma by sex and age from sixteen onwards, the main causes of trauma, the different locations of the injury and finally the total number of patients who die from this cause. To achieve the objectives, forms for data collection were built, which was obtained from records of emergency care, surgery area Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, among the aforementioned period; for the selection of the universe for all patients treated with different pathology was ruled out trauma. The following tabulation of information was made and creating tables to present the figures obtained, and the construction of graphics to explain and clarify the results. The main results obtained in the study show a growing annual trend of trauma care. It also notes that the male happens to be most affected in a three to one ratio with females. It was also determined that the most affected age group is between sixteen and twenty-nine years, the main causes of trauma are traffic accidents and falls, and the first is the leading cause of death by trauma.
