However, in the drug dependent population due to the use of psychoactive substances, all this leads to inappropriate lifestyles, producing a bad biopsychosocial function. The aim of the research work was to describe emotional intelligence and resilience according to sociodemographic variables in drug-dependent patients of the Specialized Center “Hacia una Nueva Vida” in Azuay-Cuenca (2020-2021). It also intended to identify the dimensions of emotional intelligence and the resilience factors that predominate in the same population according to sociodemographic variables like age, time of use, income from relapse, schooling and drug use. The study is based on a quantitative, cross-sectional approach, with a type of non-experimental design and a descriptive scope. 60 drug-dependent patients from the specialized center “Hacia una Nueva Vida” participated in the study. As research instruments, a sociodemographic record was applied, the WLEIS-S Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale. The results identified medium levels of emotional intelligence (IE) and low levels of resilience in the patients. The most prevalent dimension of emotional intelligence is use of emotions and the factor of resilience is selfconfidence.
