It occurs in 4.3% of the studied population and may present in any phase of the sexual response cycle: excitement, plateau, orgasm, or resolution. Its origin is multifactorial, including psychosocial, cultural, physical factors, age, use of hormonal therapy, and use of sexual devices. Objective: To determine the prevalence of dyspareunia among female teaching and administrative staff of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Cuenca, September 2025 – February 2026. Methodology: Descriptive, cross-sectional study with a sample of 111 female participants. The FSFI-19 scale, a validated tool for assessing female sexual function, was used. Data collection was conducted through individual surveys, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Version 29.0 to generate cross tables and determine frequency, mean, median, and mode. Results: The prevalence of dyspareunia was 4.3%, while 37.1% of participants presented some type of sexual dysfunction. The predominant age range was 30 to 39 years. Among associated factors, married marital status was most frequent (59.5%); mode of delivery was cesarean section (24.3%) and vaginal delivery (24.3%). Conclusions: Dyspareunia showed a low prevalence, and the greatest alteration was observed in the desire domain, which may be due to multifactorial causes and differs from the pattern described in the literature.
