The Net-Zero energy standard has emerged as an attractive goal for building owners and designers, due to growing concern about the environmental im- pact of buildings. However, its application in heri-tage buildings in the equa- torial Andean climate presents challenges due to the need to preserve its historical and cultural integrity. This work focused on the study of passive and active strategies to improve thermal and lighting com-fort in a study object in Cuenca, Ecuador. Passive strategies, focused on areas of prolonged permanen-ce, included the insta- llation of chamber glass, a solar tube on the roof and the correction of infil- tra-tions in the carpentry. These strategies generated notable results: in the room, an average temperatu-re increase of 1.25°C on cold days and 0.50°C on warmer days was recorded, without affecting the lighting. In the kitchen/ dining room, natural light was improved and an increase of approximately 3°C in temperature was experienced. In the bedroom, lighting problems were solved, with an increase of approx. 150 lux, and significant changes in tem- perature were observed, increasing around 4°C. In active strategies, the installation of a set of photovoltaic panels is proposed in the rear block of the building, which has no heritage value. This interven- tion will make it possible to satisfy the energy de-mand of the home, mana- ging to solve 2827.47 kW/h of the 2967.87 kW/h that the home currently has, which is equivalent to covering 95% of the current energy need.
