    El docente de Educación General Básica frente a la implementación de la educación integral de la sexualidad: obstáculos y desafíos

    The implementation of sex education in educational systems is a complex process with ineffective results, especially in Latin American contexts. This monograph seeks to analyze bibliographically the obstacles and challenges that Basic General Education teachers have to face to implement Integral Sexuality Education. To do this, based on the revision and systematization of the relevant bibliography, we sought to conceptualize the Integral Sexuality Education by considering its definitions and characteristics, and the importance it has for children of Basic General Education. Then, the obstacles and challenges that teachers face to provide an Integral Education of Sexuality are identified and described. Finally, based on the obstacles and challenges mentioned, we present possible actions that teachers may apply to implement an Integral Sexuality Education within classes, so they may attain what is proposed in the curriculum. The study leads us to conclude that although there are laws that regulate the way in which Integral Sexuality Education should be addressed within classrooms, there are gaps at different levels and instances that do not allow teachers to implement Sexual Education that cover the needs of the children of Basic General Education. This drives to continue looking for and testing mechanisms that allow an effective implementation of Sex Education for children and adolescents.
