In this research we analyze the Cuban immigration to Cuenca - Ecuador and its integration processes. It was a study qualitative part through in-depth interviews; To understand the motivations of Cubans who decided to leave the island and settle in Cuenca, analyze their processes of adaptation and integration to the host society; And know the practices of reproduction of their identity. It was based on the method of discourse analysis, under the interpretative paradigm.
It was found that this is a type of selective and qualified migration. In addition, it is evident that the main factor that promotes this type of migration was the public policy of promotion of professionals by the Cuban government; With the political counterpart of the Ecuadorian government, to attract qualified personnel in the areas of art, culture, medicine and sports. Economic motivation is always present in all cases. Other factors that promote migration are: migratory chains, political motivations and previous migratory experiences.
