Many people are affected by dentinal hypersensitivity. Most patients suffering from dentinal hypersensitivity is presented as a breakthrough pain, acute short-term, very annoying and often can be unbearable. There is great confusion about the diagnosis, etiology and mechanisms of dentinal hypersensitivity, therefore professionals lack the confidence to manage this condition effectively.
The objective of this review is to inform professionals about the causes, characteristics and mechanisms of dentinal hypersensitivity.
