Item Frecuencia de escherichia coli beta lactamasa de espectro extendido en la flora intestinal de menores de cinco años que son atendidos en los centros de salud del cantón Cuenca, junio - septiembre, 2011(Universidad de Cuena, 2011-11-11) Alarcón Serrano, Byron Fernando; Obregón Nieto, Marco Raúl; Suárez Cabrera, Antonio Javier; Galindo Banegas, Telmo BenjamínTo determine the ESBL production in Escherichia coli strains belonging to from the intestinal flora of children under five were isolated during the period from June to September 2011, 200 primary cultures in health centers in the canton Cuenca, the same who were taken to area of Microbiology, Faculty of Medical Sciences where he made the identification and determination of resistance to antibiotics.-From the samples obtained in EMB performed by incubating the culture at 37 ° C, aerobically for 24 hours, further confirmatory biochemical tests used for E. coli, then used the disk diffusion method or method of Kirby-Bauer, which used paper disks impregnated antibiotic-free zones located in microorganisms with serial doses of 30 micrograms. For confirmation of ESBL Discs with 3 rd generation cephalosporins, alone (ceftazidime and cefotaxime) and combined with clavulanic acid, confirming the presence of ESBL when the zone of inhibition of the combination is ≥ 5 mm from cephalosporin alone.- We performed a total of 200 crops, 115 (57.5%) were negative, while 85 (42.5%) were positive for Escherichia coli, of which 16 reflect resistance to beta-lactams, which equates to 18.8% while the 69 remaining were negative with a rate of 81.2%, according to the disc diffusion method in agar.- The ESBL-producing strains, such as beta-lactam disks: ceftriaxone, cefepime, cefazolin, amoxicillin / clavulanic acid showed complete resistance, while the discs adding beat-lactam was found that all strains showed sensitivity to meropenem ESBL in a 100%, 93.7% gemtamicina, ciprofloxacin 43.7% and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole a 18.75%.-At the junction of variables there is no relationship between significance: ESBL and sex (p = 0.142), ESBL and residence (p = 0.490), whereas the old link with ESBLs, predominantly between 0-12 months with the relationship being 7.1% significant (p = 0.031)AU
