EP.) en la provincia del Cañar(2013) Bravo Farfán, Jorge Luis; Mendoza Neira, Mirian Susana; Arévalo Maldonado, Sofía PriscilaThis graduation project performs a study about the CDMA 450 wireless fixed telephone service evolution and actual state in the Cañar province, through the evaluation of some technical system parameters. In order to get the main goal it develops coverage diagrams of every node in the province, it makesmeasurement of received power in the user terminal in different places, it realizes comparison between software coverage diagrams and real coverage, it makes a node traffic monitoring and test calls where it evaluates theestablishing time and drop calls in the system. Also it identifies the causes of the service degradation and the geographical zones where it is affected. Finally this document presents a set of solutions in order to enhance service quality; these solutions are based in the test outcome analysis developed during this project.Item Diagnóstico de la situación actual de los servicios de radio y televisión en el sur del país mediante el análisis de información del sistema automático de control del espectro radioeléctrico (SACER) de la Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (SUPERTEL) y planteamiento de soluciones técnicas para las irregularidades de mayor incidencia(2013) López Sanmartín, Marcelo Javier; Villarruel Amendaño, Carlos Eduardo; Arévalo Maldonado, Sofía PriscilaThis research has as main goal to find and analyze the major disadvantages of radio and television broadcasting systems (AM, FM) through the use of the Automatic Control Systemof the Radio Electric Spectrum - SACER used by the Superintendence of Telecommunications by measuring the level of the electric field strength, bandwidth, occupation and coverage in major cities of the Southern Region of Ecuador (Cuenca, Loja, Cañar, Macas and Macara). Also through the main management tool SACER system, the Argus Software use multiple services offered to complement our analysis. Finally by using the following methodologies: research, processing and analyzing data we can establish the most common problems to stablish appropriate technical solutions in order to improve the quality of service and the monitoring and communications systems of radio and television broadcastingItem Diseño e implementación de un prototipo nodo multimedia para servicios de voz sobre IP, navegación por internet, ubicación e información de la ciudad de Cuenca, para Etapa EP(2016) Abril Vera, Carlos Sebastián; Arias Rodas, Raúl Ernesto; Arévalo Maldonado, Sofía PriscilaIn Cuenca city, ETAPA promotes the concept of Digital City by providing to the community the available technology. ETAPA has the requirement by ARCOTEL to install ten public telephony equipment per year. However, installing equipment of equal or similar features to those already installed in the city by ETAPA is considerably expensive since they are brought from abroad and the company that produced them no longer is currently on the market. That is why the objective of our project is to provide a more affordable solution and which in turn integrates new services for the user, such as IP Telephony, Web Browsing, Location and Maps and Information and Publicity. A distro of Linux that has been conveniently modified to provide the security of software to the Node Multimedia equipment has been chosen for the development of the prototype. The application of interaction with the user has been developed using the platform of JavaFX, which allows develop applications with XML and HTML-based interfaces, which facilitates the updating and modification of them. The collection system to the user for access to the Multimedia Node services is formed by a reader of coins and a card of monitoring, this later one collects information from the computer's hardware and transmits the information to the service application of the Multimedia node, including the information of the reader of coins, as well as the State of sensors that monitor the level of deposit of coins and access to the same.Item Estudio técnico para el mejoramiento de la calidad de servicio ofrecido a los usuarios de la red WiMAX de ETAPA EP en la zona urbana de la ciudad de Cuenca(2016) Calle Calle, Fredy Marcelo; Guamán Chalco, Fabián Patricio; Arévalo Maldonado, Sofía PriscilaThe municipal Company of Cuenca ETAPA EP provides wireless internet service through WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology, using the last mile access in areas where copper network coverage for broadband is insufficient. The objective of this project is to perform a technical study to improve the quality of service offered to internet users of the network WiMAX of ETAPA EP in the urban area of the city of Cuenca. Initially, the theoretical foundation that allows us to understand the architecture, operation, and main features of WiMAX technology is presented; at the same time, the characteristics of some simulation programs for planning telecommunication networks are reviewed and presented, of which ICS TELECOM is chosen for its digital mapping available, coverage prediction, and interference performance. Subsequently, a survey of the current state of the network by measurements of the tilt angle and azimuth of the transmitting antenna of each BTS is performed. With the data obtained from the measurements some simulations of coverage, interference analysis and network performance are performed. Additionally, traffic field tests and capacity are done. Then some drive tests that makes it possible to determinate the critical areas of the network and compare it with the results of the simulations are performed. Also, an analysis of the connection state of fixed users with data collection from the WiMAX manager M200 is undertaken. Finally, with the use of ICS TELECOM some network changes are proposed to improve coverage and solve the problems that were found. With the new azimuth and tilt parameters proposed, three BTSs of the Historical Center were modified, and then some new drive tests were performed to determine the effectiveness of the changes made, resulting in an improvement of 33, 3 % in the affected area.Item Simulación de una red núcleo con MPLS para servicio triple play para un operador de telecomunicaciones en la provincia del Azuay(2016) Cabrera Idrovo, Angélica María; Farfán Guillén, David Esteban; Arévalo Maldonado, Sofía PriscilaThe primary objective of this thesis project is to elaborate a simulation of a MPLS backbone network for the Triple Play service in the province of Azuay, Ecuador. This is done by using simulation tools capable of configuring the network for evaluating its behavior. First a theoretical review of the MPLS protocol and of each of its characteristics is conducted in addition to theoretically substantiate the service of Triple Play through the analysis of the services it provides which are Internet, voice and television. Later, through researching existing network simulation softwares out in the market the one with most futures and which better fits to the objectives of the present project is selected. From this software the band width necessary for each one of the services that integrate Triple Play are calculated through an analysis of the visual and audio codecs. Next a central net design is created based on the on a statistical study which projects a possible number of subscribers of Triple Play in the province of Azuay, Ecuador. Based on mentioned design the net’s topology is implemented into the software simulation of selected networks, OPNET, configurations of the MPLS protocol, the differences of service and queuing mechanisms. Also, the programming software, MATLAB, is used to generate traffic through a friendly and easy to use interface. Finally, the availability and extent of the network are analyzed, through various software simulation tests. Also, new network designs are suggested for a possible change in the demand of the services in the future.Item Simulación y análisis de cobertura para tecnología LTE en el Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Cuenca(2015) Barrera Salamea, Daniela Estefanía; Arévalo Maldonado, Sofía PriscilaThe new wireless broadband Long Term Evolution (LTE) network provides higher data speeds and lower latency compared to 3G technologies to enhance the user experience and to ensure the competitiveness of the mobile networks for the future. This project analyze the coverage, interference and capacity performance of this type of network implemented on “Centro Histórico” ofthe city of Cuenca. First, a theoretical explanation is introduced for a better understanding of LTE technology and its technical specifications presented in 3GPP Release 8 standard. Also some regulatory aspects applied for the development of LTE in Ecuador, specifically Cuenca are included. After a study about radio planning tools, the simulation platform for telecommunication networks ICS TELECOM is used to exploit its capabilities on frequency planning, spectrum management, coverage prediction and interference analysis. The deployment of the simulated network prioritizes the use of existingantenna towersbelonging to mobile operators, due to thecomplexity to install new base stations on the studied areawhich holds patrimonial value. Finally, the simulated network is analysed and the performance of MIMO techniques, the use of different bandwidths allocated to each eNodeB and the use of different transmission frequency bands are compared.
