BACKGROUND Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a pathology that occurs in the airways and affects the pulmonary alveoli, it produces extensive scarring of the lung tissue and could be the result of an inflammatory response to an idiopathic agent. According to the WHO, this disease is considered to have high mortality rates if it is not diagnosed early. Computed tomography is the main test used in the diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis to observe in detail the main predominant radiological signs in this pathology which are necessary for a correct diagnosis. OBJECTIVES To determine the frequency of pulmonary fibrosis diagnosed by computed tomography in the Imaging department of the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital in the period June-December 2020. METHODS A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out, in which the frequency of pulmonary fibrosis will be investigated in patients who underwent chest CT at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital. EXPECTED RESULTS This study aims to determine how many patients were diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, its complications and the main apparent causes.
