This transformation focuses on historic city cores, which face challenges to achieve gender equality. To understand the progress of urban interventions in historic centers from a comprehensive planning, the evolution of the theoretical-practical trends present in 12 studies was analyzed, after the review of 31,091 titles, on the urban intervention of historic centers of Ecuador and Peru for 44 years, using a gender perspective. The texts were selected and excluded based on the language, year of publication, type of support, use of universal identifiers (ISBN, ISSN, and DOI), and the syntax of their titles; and reviewed in MAXQDA2024. Thus, changes were identified in the consideration of the gender dimension in these studies, based on the systematic review of qualitative literature as a technique, focused on the search for theoretical articles and books through Web Of Science, Dialnet, Everand, and ProQuest Ebook Central. Among the most relevant results, despite not generating conclusive results between 1980 and 2000, a transition was found between the end of the 20th century and the 21st century, which went from a focus on heritage conservation to one of renewal and, finally, comprehensive urban rehabilitation. It was determined that the gender approach was incorporated in texts published in the last two to three years, particularly in studies on Ecuadorian historical centers.
