It is presented a case of a patient who attends outpatient
consultation at the Vicente Corral Moscoso
hospital with a diagnosis of abdominal aortic
aneurysm which was identified through tomography.
Besides, the patient shows a biotype compatible
with Marfan syndrome which constitutes a challenge
for diagnosis and therapy. Marfan syndrome is
present in 1 to 3 cases out of 10,000 patients, and
it is caused by defects in a gene called fibrillin-1. Fibrillin-
1 plays an important role for the connective
tissue synthesis of the body; accompanied with
cardiac and vascular malformations as well.
