| Abstract: | The purpose of the study of the relevance of a dual career in finance was to find the needs and
expectations of the demands of the companies in the sector, together with those of the students
in the third year of high school.
For the scope of the information, a focus group was carried out for the representatives of the
companies, and surveys were prepared for the students of the third year of their baccalaureate
program. Making use of a qualitative methodology to obtain data that defines the profile of
graduation from this career and the main characteristics that a student in this area should have.
At the same time, the use of the quantitative approach through statistical techniques can be used
to interpret the information obtained through the application of the surveys to students in the third
year of high school.
With the information obtained, it was concluded that within the city of Cuenca, there are no
additional institutions that offer academic preparation for a career in finance. It was recorded that
only 11.4 percent of the students surveyed would choose a career in finance engineering, dual
mode. Meanwhile, 49 percent of the students surveyed said that the most relevant subject for the
career would be accounting and corporate finance, which was the same opinion expressed by
professionals already in this field of work. It was concluded that even though the students did not
have a broad knowledge about a career in finance, there could be an opening for the creation of
such a career because there would be a labor demand for it. |
| Description: | El estudio de pertinencia de la carrera de finanzas modalidad dual tuvo como propósito el
encontrar las necesidades y expectativas de la demanda que tienen las empresas del sector
junto con la de los estudiantes de tercero de bachillerato. Para el alcance de la información se
realizó un focus group para el caso de los representantes de las empresas y encuestas para los
estudiantes de tercero de bachillerato. Haciendo uso de una metodología cualitativa, para
obtener datos que definan un perfil de egreso de dicha carrera y las principales características
que debe tener un estudiante de esta área. A su vez, el uso del enfoque Cuantitativo mediante
técnicas estadísticas para interpretar la información obtenida a través de la aplicación de las
encuestas a los estudiantes de tercero de bachillerato. Con la información obtenida Se concluyó
que dentro de la ciudad de Cuenca no existen más instituciones que ofrezcan preparación
académica de una carrera de finanzas. Se obtuvo registro de que solo el 11.4 % de los
estudiantes encuestados elegirían la carrera de ingeniería en finanzas modalidad dual, mientras
que el 49% de los estudiantes encuestados expresan que el tema más relevante para la carrera
sería la contabilidad y finanzas corporativas lo cual también fue expresado por los profesionales
en este ámbito laboral. Se concluyó, que a pesar de que los estudiantes no tuvieran un
conocimiento amplio acerca de una carrera de finanzas se puede tener apertura para la creación
de la carrera debido a que tendría demanda laboral. |
