OBJECTIVE
To characterize interconsultations to psychiatry in the area of internal medicine of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso in the year 2016.
METHODS
The present research applied a quantitative and observational methodology, with a transversal criteria and a descriptive scope. The clinical records of 507 patients hospitalized in the area of internal medicine of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso in the year 2016 were collected, for whom the psychiatric consultation was requested. The data collection was done with a form, which is attached in annexes. Data analysis and processing were performed using the Excel and SPSS V15 computer packages obtained from the Medical Faculty Library.
RESULTS
In the present research project carried out in the area of internal medicine of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in 2016, it was observed that more psychiatric consultations were requested for female patients (50.9%) compared to the male patients (49.1% %). The age range of patients, for whom the psychiatric consultation service was requested more frequently, was between 37 and 56 years (32.9%). Regarding the marital status, of the 507 patients for whom the psychiatric consultation service was requested, 44.4% are single. The motive most used to send these requests is alteration of consciousness (20.5%). The most frequent organic diagnoses of the 507 medical records analyzed were chemical and drug intoxication (25.8%) and alcoholic liver disease (23.5%).
The areas that most requested interconsultations to the area of psychiatry during the year 2016 at the Regional Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso were gastroenterology (33.1%) and neurology (29.0%), while the psychiatric diagnosis with which the interconsultation was most concluded during the period of study was substance abuse and dependence (27.8%).

MATERIALES Y METODOS
La presente investigación fue de carácter cuantitativa observacional, tipo transversal y alcance descriptivo. Se recolectaron historias clínicas de 507 pacientes hospitalizados en el área de medicina interna del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso del año 2016, para quienes se solicitó interconsulta psiquiátrica. La recolección de datos se efectuó con un formulario. El análisis y procesamiento de datos fue realizado mediante Excel y SPSS V15.
RESULTADOS
En el presente proyecto de investigación realizado en el área de medicina interna del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso del año 2016, se observó que se solicitaron más interconsultas psiquiátricas para pacientes del sexo femenino (50.9%) en comparación con el sexo masculino (49.1%). El rango de edad, para los cuales se solicitó interconsulta psiquiátrica con más frecuencia, fue entre 37 y 56 años (32.9%). En cuanto al estado civil, de los 507 pacientes para los cuales se solicitó interconsulta psiquiátrica, el 44.4% fueron solteros. El motivo que más se utiliza para enviar estas solicitudes es alteración de la conciencia (20.5%). Los diagnósticos orgánicos más frecuentes fueron intoxicación por sustancias químicas y drogas (25.8%) y hepatopatía alcohólica (23.5%).
Las áreas que más solicitaron interconsultas a psiquiatría durante el año 2016 en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso fueron gastroenterología (33.1%) y neurología (29.0%), mientras que el diagnóstico psiquiátrico más frecuente fue abuso y dependencia de sustancias (27.8%).
