Prevalencia de faringoamigdalitis aguda estreptocócica mediante el test de detección rápida del antígeno de estreptococo beta hemolítico y los factores asociados en pacientes entre 5 – 19 años en el Centro de Salud No 1 julio – septiembre, Cuenca 2013

Abstract

Objective: To determine prevalence of acute streptococcal pharyngitis and factors associated in patients between 5 and 19 years old who come to external consultation in the Health Center N° 1, in July - September, 2013.

Materials and methods: A transverse study was realized, in a population of patients between 5 to 19 years with clinical compatible manifestations with acute pharyngitis. The sample was probabilistic and random; the size was calculated on the basis of the prevalence of the minor factor of risk (under level of instruction 8 %), confidence level of 95 % and the mistake of inference of 3 %. The formula was applied n = p x q x z2/e2, (total 320). The information was gathered in a direct way and the information they were analyzed by the software SPSS15. Results: The middle ages were 11.8 years ± 4.7 DS, 53.1 % was women. The prevalence of pharyngitis was 40.3 % (IC 95 %: 34.9 - 45.7), in men 56.7 % (IC 95 %: 48.8 - 64.6) and in women 25.9 % (IC 95 %, 19.3 % - 32.5), associated to accumulation p 0.000, Father and Mother with levels of study lower than 6 years p 0.010 and p 0.000 respectively. Conclusions: The prevalence of pharyngitis was 40.3 % and associated to accumulation and under level of instruction of the parents.
