| Abstract: | Objective: Determine the characteristics of ocular disease by Doppler ultrasound in diabetic patients Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital.
Methods: The study included 107 diabetic patients, assessed by specialists in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Ophthalmology and sent to the Imaging Department for performing ocular ultrasound Doppler.
Results: The 70% of patients in the study were female. The mean age was 57 years (± 6 years). The IR in the central retinal artery was normal in over 75% of studies. The IR in the ophthalmic artery was normal in more than 85% of patients. The VSM of the central artery of the retina was within normal ranges in 85% of cases. The VSM of the ophthalmic artery was normal in 67% of examinations. The pathologies were diagnosed more hemovitreous followed cataract and vitreous degeneration.
Conclusions: Both the values of IR and VSM were within the normal range in a high percentage. Increase in the IR of the central artery of the retina associated with age and time to diagnosis of diabetes was observed, this association wasn’t reproducible for the ophthalmic artery, neither this association was found with the VSM.

| Description: | Objetivo: Determinar las características de la patología ocular mediante la ecografía Doppler, en los pacientes diabéticos del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso.
Material y métodos: El estudio incluyo 107 diabéticos, valorados por especialistas, en Medicina interna, Endocrinología y Oftalmología y remitidos al Departamento de Imagenología para realización de ecografía Doppler ocular.
Resultados: El 70% de pacientes del estudio fueron del sexo femenino. La edad media fue de 57 años (± 6 años). El IR en la arteria central de la retina fue normal en más del 75% de estudios. En la arteria oftálmica el IR también fue normal en más del 85% de pacientes. La VSM de la arteria central de la retina se encontró dentro de rangos normales en el 85% de casos. La VSM de las arterias oftálmicas, fue normal en el 67% de exámenes. Las patologías que más se diagnosticaron fueron el hemovítreo, seguido de catarata y degeneración vítrea.
Conclusiones: Tanto los valores de IR como de VSM estuvieron dentro del rango normal en un alto porcentaje. Se observó incremento en el IR de la arteria central de la retina asociado con la edad y con el tiempo de diagnóstico de la diabetes; ésta asociación no fue reproducible para la arteria oftálmica ni tampoco se encontró esta asociación con la VSM.
