Estimación de la curva de Kuznets medioambiental en el Ecuador durante el período 1961-2010

Abstract

This work shows us analyzing the relationship between economic growth and air pollution (〖CO〗_2) in Ecuador, during the last five decades . Based on the theory and empirical work around the Environmental Kuznets` Curve (CKA), it performs the tests of cointegration, to test a long-term relationship between these variables, with the inclusion of population density as an explicative variable. It is found that all of the series show unit root, however cointegran and the signs of the parameters are expected, by finding a concave quadratic functional form. In performing the method of correction of errors, the coefficient of error behind long-term, it is favorable as the econometric theory.Simultaneously it presents a brief overview of the socio-economic context and legal at National level, with emphasis on the environment. In short, our country is located in the growing phase of the curve, but next to arrives at turning point of the CKA, i.e. as yet the increase in the per capita income translates into damage environmental. At the same time it considered that the interest, over the past few years, to protect the environment in our country is noticeable and can be seen from the statistics, the new regulations and ongoing projects.
