Estudio de los reductores de velocidad en las zonas urbanas y rurales de la ciudad de Cuenca, provincia del Azuay

Abstract

In the city of Cuenca, despite being a relatively small city, the number of vehicles has increased considerably over the years, which is why traffic engineering is more and more required. An important part of traffic engineering is placing speed bumps to help users respect speed limits, or help to safeguard pedestrians and drivers’ safety. We have noticed there is a wide range of variety when it comes to speed bumps geometry and the types of speed reducers. This influences daily the city traffic. The irregularity of their measures causes inconvenience to users because they do not know exactly how to react when approaching to these elements. This is the main reason why we analyze its efficiency. Our main goal is to standardize the geometrical dimensions of the element, so that based on the results obtained, and following an analysis of the type of road where the speed bump is located; we can determine an standardized dimension for its proper functioning.
