Abstract: | Background: The COVID-19 pandemic generated a significant impact on the lifestyle of the general population, with physical activity as an essential component, being affected by the presence of restrictions, closure of sports facilities and social distancing. Objective: To determine the changes in the physical activity of Medicine students at the University of Cuenca during the period September-February 2024, once the COVID-19 pandemic has ended. Methodology: A cross-sectional analytical study was carried out, using the Simplified IPAQ Questionnaire with data on the physical activity that the participant carried out prior to the pandemic. We collected quantitative and qualitative data from 276 medical students, those who previously signed an informed consent. The data will be tabulated and analyzed using a statistical test in software (SPSS) and will be displayed in tables. The variables were residence, gender, year of study, age, and level of physical activity. Results: A total of 67.03% are female, 88.04% belong to the urban area and 55.44% represent the group of young adults. In the qualitative and quantitative analysis, changes were found, being statistically significant in the latter, where a value of p <0.001 was obtained. Conclusion: It is concluded that through quantitative analysis we found statistically significant changes, as in other studies carried out on the subject. |
