Abstract
The global health crisis caused by COVID - 19 caused a considerable increase in the vulnerability situation of some groups and exacerbated in other populations; the Andean indigenous areas are among this group, since they had to face the need for health with the available knowledge: among them, the use of medicinal plants as an alternative and as part of a baggage of knowledge and culture. The objective of this research is to describe Andean knowledge in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath in the community of San Andrés de Taday, Cañar Province. It was based on the interpretative paradigm, with a qualitative design and descriptive scope, as a method to obtain data, in-depth interviews will be applied and we will work with focus groups and community social actors (healers and/or midwives) of the study population; the information gathered will allow us to know the reality of the population and fulfill the objective of the research. The results obtained in the present work will serve as a reference to have real data about the study population and the application of ancestral knowledge in the pandemic and will allow exploring the perceptions and knowledge about the pandemic and its sequels, the therapeutic practices and experiences for the treatment of COVID-19.
Resumen
La crisis sanitaria mundial por COVID - 19 provocó un aumento considerable en la situación de vulnerabilidad de algunos grupos y exacerbó en otras poblaciones; las zonas indígenas andinas están entre este grupo, ya que debieron afrontar la necesidad de salud con los conocimientos disponibles: entre ellos, el uso de plantas medicinales como una alternativa y como parte de un bagaje de saberes y cultura. El objetivo de esta investigación es describir los saberes andinos en respuesta a la pandemia COVID - 19 y sus secuelas en la comunidad San Andrés de Taday, Provincia de Cañar. Se basó en el paradigma interpretativo, con un diseño cualitativo y alcance descriptivo, como método de obtención de datos se aplicarán entrevistas a profundidad y se trabajará con grupos focales y actores sociales comunitarios (curanderos y/o comadronas) de la población de estudio; la información recabada permitirá conocer la realidad de la población y cumplir el objetivo de la investigación. Los resultados obtenidos en el presente trabajo servirán como un referente para tener datos reales sobre la población de estudio y la aplicación de los saberes ancestrales en la pandemia y la permitirá explorar las percepciones y conocimientos sobre la pandemia y sus secuelas, las prácticas y experiencias terapéuticas para el tratamiento del COVID - 19.
